Marketing trends of 2018 - a look back



2018 was quite a year - not least because it was Sunshine PR’s launch year! 2018 was THE year of the story - with Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook stories sweeping the board as the new go-to for many millenials and Gen X users. It ties in very much with the above point - consumers now want authenticity and social media stories allows for this with behind-the-scenes access to your favourite brand, influencer or celeb! While Instagram stories leads the pack with over 400 million active users - double the users of Snapchat stories - both are worth considering depending on your target market. Nearly 70% of Snapchat users are female and users 25 and under use Snapchat for an average of 40 minutes a day, more than Instagram’s latest results for the same age range.


Are you being influenced yet?

The important of influencers, now also sorted into the category of micro- and nano- influencers depending on the amount of followers, has grown exponentially over 2018 and will continue into 2019.



More and more brands are now considering influencers with less followers (in some case, only 1000 followers in total!) due to their loyal fans and the engagement they get within niche markets.
